Headrest Emergency Deployment Rig (HEDR)
"Mountains are not fair or unfair, they are just dangerous." -Reinhold Messner
"Danger is my middle name." -Austin Powers
We won't miss out on life's adventures just because it's riskier than staying at home. That's why we equip our own vehicles with a kit that can handle whatever dangers we encounter. We road-tested the HEDR in the mountains of our Colorado headquarters and decided it was time for an upgrade. A new retention strap fastens the kit even more securely to your vehicle's headrest, so that you can go off the beaten path and ignore the bumps in the road. More straps are inside the kit, securing the individual components inside, so that if an emergency interrupts your day, precious seconds will be saved accessing them. Enjoy your day, and be safe, with a kit that will help you do it- our new and improved HEDR.
The HEDR gives you a low-profile, comprehensive trauma kit that’s ready to go with a pull of the red grab handle. One panel securely attaches to your automobile’s headrest and the pouch attaches with velcro to the panel.

Perfect size, great products inside, and nice having the piece of mind while driving in the car.
Great Med kit with room for a few additions. I doubled the supplies, in mine. Great placement. Anyone in a 4 door truck can reach it.
the HEDR is super simple, easy to setup and deploy medkit for any vehicle!
HEDR is an outstanding trauma kit for your car that contains what you might need for a serious accident. I added a second tourniquet, decompression needle. The kit is pretty full as it comes, so not a lot of room for add ons. I put a headlamp in the elastic front pouch, hung a roll of surgical tape by the sheers, and added separate sets of gloves as the first thing i see when it opens. Im gonna add a surgical mask when i can get one. I think the front elastic pouch could be better as an enclosed compartment with a zipper. Overall i wish it were about 20% to 33% bigger with some room to add things like more alcohol prep pads, water based lube gel for the NPA, antiseptic pads, peroxide, saline wash, another eye shield, etc. While the kit is designed just to bridge the first 20 minutes until EMT arrives, situations could take longer. Of course you could always attach an auxiliary pouch for this. Overall this is a great kit that is more modern than the one i built myself for the same purpose. Highly recommend.
This kit is the perfect add to my truck. I have a larger kit with extra items as well - but this is perfect for what it is designed for - RAPID, FIRST RESPONSE. If I need more than the kit carries, I have it, but the First Response is key. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
This is my third kit from Dark Angel. This one is specifically for the wife's car. I keep a D.A.R.K. in my pick up that can go with me on my belt or into the work truck. I also have the ankle kit that is always in arms reach. But this one will stay put in the wife's car. Now I just need to get her to the class!
I live in Alaska and spend significant time traveling the highways. The Dark Angel HEDR is a well built, and adequately configured trauma kit. The kit is easily removeable from the headrest for deployment. Being readily removable also mitigates some of the temptation for scum to break windows and steal it while away from the vehicle--just pull it when away and stow in the console. Well done Dark Angel! I can and do recommend the unit for vehicle based emergency response.
Perfect vehicular kit.
I will have one in every car I own from now on. The kit is complete, easy to mount and a great addition to the car
pretty darn good kit. a word of Caution: save yourself a lot of problems by watching the video first!, thought i got something else or the mounting strap was missing, not true. the strap iis a wide velcro band(looks more like ankle band, but if you take the time to unroll it, it is really a headrest band...operator error on my behalf. after several emails, i watched the video(Dark AngelMed, emailed me another copy and said to watch it, i followed directions and it works! and works quite well) the HDER is a very nice kit; either for initial treatment or a supplement to work with you usual work kit(the big shoulder bag in the car, or with a "Unit 1" type kit bag. on really neat thing is that all the components of the bag are vacuum packed, making a nice tight, small packet(may not look like everything is in the little pack but it is, except the CAT TQ's, and they fit in the side pockets..nice!). this still leaves room for other items to add(we all modify kits we buy for our own preferences, true?...you betcha we do!) i really love it. everything to keep the red stuff inside. not enough room for cuff, stethoscope, and pulse ox, but room for an Israeli Dressing. i think that the HDER in combination with my really old Unit 1 bag(yes original issue from the'60's) would about cover any situation i would come across either day to day or on a road trip, throw in some packs of 4x4's, vet wrap and a few other items, and extra gloves and a couple of bags of LR and IV setups and you can deal with most anything in limited numbers. the only thing you might want to seriously replace right away is to get rid of the small fakie shears and replace them with a really decent pair..my only complaint. a little spendy but worth it, i think..and i have been doing emergency medicine in hospitals and the brush for over 37 years....a very good starting point kit, you really don't need to do much, but we are all going to modify it for what we feel we can't live or work without
Great product! It rests on the headrest of my truck where it is handy and easy to get to. If you carry concealed you should have this trauma kit with you.
This trauma med kit is groundbreaking and a perfect location. Well made and a perfect footprint. Quality product from a company We trust. I'm buying a second one for my other vehicle. Best kit out there... Well done
